Incomprehensible language

Netem ga zhewebek ngotek ga zhetot jayek o mnedo

Ga zhetot jayek o mnedo ngotek ga zhewebek netem

O mnedo ga zhetot jayek netem ga zhewebek ngotek

Ngotek ga zhewebek netem ga zhetot jayek o mnedo

Ga zhewebek netem ngotek ga zhetot jayek o mnedo

One of the things that makes it INCOMPREHENSIBLE to understand some of the Origin stories in the language, is that many of our older words to describe these things are not even used any longer.

Create: ngi yawa, ndawton (for it is something I did/or do, ndo zhé’a, ngi-wzhé’a, nde-wzheton…..

Creation: yawtowen, yawekowen

Creator: Yawet-jak

Universe: Kwetkemek

God: naganimnedo, shketowen jayek etot, kendaswen jayek etot, nekmek jayek ngoji eyawet, mishkweswen jayek etot……

Covering: wiwkwé’awen, O wshkesh wiwkwé’awen, waskonwen wiwkwé’awen, gche waskonwen…..

Some Native language and wisdom, since we don’t refer to the God, Jesus, the same as many others do. I have always believed our language is pure, not containing ways one can curse, lie, or swear by things. When one poses a question, one must answer with the truth, if one is speaking and the teachings refer to this. We have two major teachings on Truth and Honesty.

Someone once asked me why we had two teachings on the same thing; Truth and Honesty? I told them, because one can know the Truth or have the Truth within, and still choose to be dishonest. So the teaching is there to remind us we are supposed to be Holy Seed and are to think before speaking an untruth.

More on this later……

I was born on Powers Bluff in Wood County, Wisconsin, into a traditional community of Neshnabek. I was raised speaking only native languages, and learned to speak English upon entering school at the age of 6. As of this writing, I am one of 5 remaining Heritage Fluent Speakers of Potawatomi.
